Mayori no Gakkou (魔寄りの学校), a new manga series by Tatsuru Murakoshi, launched on the Shonen Jump+ platform on August 17.
A World of Gates to the Beyond
The story is set in a world where mysterious portals known as Gokumon (獄門) — gateways to an otherworldly realm — exist. It is widely known that any human who enters a Gokumon and returns will become a “Mayori” (魔寄り): a person who carries supernatural, inhuman power within them.
The Protagonist: An Isolated Girl
The series centers on Sagume, a girl who wandered into a Gokumon at a very young age and returned as an oni-type Mayori. Her otherworldly nature caused her to be isolated at school, and before she knew it, her youth had quietly slipped away.
A Journey to Reclaim What Was Lost
Years later, the one friend Sagume ever had invites her to a reunion with their old elementary school classmates. What should be a simple gathering quickly draws Sagume into an unexpected incident. Mayori no Gakkou follows her journey as she fights to reclaim the youthful days that stood still for so long.
