The official website for Mebius Dust, Dōga Kōbō’s original television anime based on Hajime Shinagawa‘s story of the same name, has announced the voice cast for LAMPs — a team of young people defined by eccentric subculture passions, grandiose delusions, and superhuman abilities. The six newly revealed cast members are:

  • Ayato Morinaga as Taketsune, the team leader with a deep love of classic hit films and their soundtracks
  • Reina Aoyama as Mao, a daydreaming girl who is head over heels for the very idea of love
  • Satoshi Inomata as Gengo, a devoted tokusatsu (live-action special-effects) otaku
  • Shinnosuke Tokudome as Renji, a boy who keeps his true self carefully hidden
  • Ryōhei Shioguchi as Yūichi, a boy fond of analog hobbies including gadgets and rakugo storytelling
  • Hiroki Nakamura as Ainojō, a young shut-in who refrains from using his special powers out of fear

Notably, both Nakamura and Shioguchi had previously been announced in separate roles within the same production.

Story

ASMIK Ace describes the anime’s premise: Araki, Stella, and Olga are high school students living in a cozy downtown neighborhood. Playing games, visiting the bathhouse, and heading home — this is the story of their everyday lives… or is there more to it?

Premiere and Project Background

Mebius Dust is set to premiere on Tokyo MX and BS Fuji on July 9, and on MBS on July 10, running for one cour (roughly one quarter of a year).

The series will be the third anime produced from winners of the Project Anima contest. Shinagawa’s story took the top prize in the contest’s “Kids/Game” category in 2019, with production originally slated for after 2020. Project Anima solicited submissions from the public via DeNA platforms such as MangaBox and Everystar, with DeNA, Sotsu Co., Ltd., Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, and MBS co-hosting competitions across three categories. Previous Project Anima productions include Sakugan (premiered October 2021) from the “Science-Fiction/Robot” category, and Mahō Tsukai ni Narenakatta Onna no Ko no Hanashi (premiered October 2024) from the “Isekai/Fantasy” category.
