An unexpected event for anime fans is happening: Detective Conan (名探偵コナン) and Meitantei Pretty Cure! (名探偵プリキュア！), two detective anime series from different broadcasters and production companies, are joining forces in special crossover episodes. The Meitantei Pretty Cure! side will air first on May 31, 2026, on ABC TV / TV Asahi at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Detective Conan side on June 6, 2026, on Yomiuri TV / Nippon TV at 6:00 p.m.

About the Two Works

Detective Conan follows Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective forced by the Black Organization to drink poison that shrinks his body. Living under the name Conan Edogawa, he stays at the Mouri Detective Agency, run by the father of his girlfriend, while continuing to solve cases. The series began airing in 1996, making 2026 its 30th anniversary.

Meitantei Pretty Cure! is the 23rd entry in the Pretty Cure franchise, which began in 2004, and the first in franchise history to feature Pretty Cure as “detectives.” The story begins when protagonist Anna Akechi travels back in time to 1999 and fights as a detective with a determined heart, seeking to help people and uncover the truth herself.

“When I first heard about this, I thought, ‘Huh, is someone transforming? Could it be Ran-neechan? (laughs)’ I never imagined a collaboration crossing broadcasters and production companies like this could happen. It really is a ‘historic incident.’ I’m very happy to work with Pretty Cure, a series that has been loved for so long. I have actually been a Pretty Cure before too, although a dark one.

For fans looking forward to it, I hope you will watch how ‘detectives’ are portrayed and what roles they play in each world. Of course, the deduction scenes are a lot of fun too! Please enjoy this meeting of detectives from different worlds.”

“Honestly, from the first time I heard the title Meitantei Pretty Cure!, I secretly hoped that someday we might be able to work with Detective Conan. When the producer told me there would be a collaboration, I actually cried out loud! And when I found out Cure Answer would appear on the Conan side too, I was so excited and honored to work with a senior series I have always loved.

When recording for Conan, I tried to keep Cure Answer’s identity while also blending into Conan’s world. You may see a slightly different side of Cure Answer! Please watch both shows and witness the wonderful moment when detectives from two worlds solve mysteries together!”
