Flag Pictures announced on Sunday that Nene Azuki‘s manga Mii-chan and Miss Yamada (also known as Mii-chan and Yamada-san) is receiving an anime adaptation, slated to debut in 2027. To mark the occasion, Azuki drew a special celebratory illustration.
Story
Set in the bustling nightlife district of Shinjuku, the story follows Yamada, a university student working part-time as a hostess at a nightclub. Cool and composed, she keeps to herself, follows every rule of the trade, and avoids getting entangled with others — until a girl named Mii-chan stumbles into her world.
Mii-chan is undeniably adorable, but hopelessly inept. She can neither read nor write, and her clumsiness constantly causes trouble, making her the target of ridicule from staff and customers alike. Yet her boundless energy and relentless enthusiasm gradually draw Yamada in, sparking an unexpected and heartfelt friendship between the two.
About the Manga
Azuki launched the series on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform in September 2024. The sixth compiled volume went on sale on April 23, and included an announcement that the series will end with its seventh volume, which is scheduled to ship in late summer.
