Story Summary
The protagonist is Rest, an illegitimate son of a noble family who was condemned from birth as having no magical ability whatsoever. Fearing that his father would strip away his right to inheritance, Rest’s mother agrees to let him pretend to be powerless for the rest of his life — while in truth, Rest harbors limitless magical power hidden deep within.
Rest plans that once he grows old enough to leave the estate, he will cast off his false powerlessness and prove his true worth in the eyes of his father and those who looked down on him.
