Special illustrated collectibles from the TV anime Natsume’s Book of Friends (夏目友人帳), in the themes of “Cat (猫 ver.)” and “Journey (旅 ver.)” — previously released and now highly sought after — have returned for another run. About Natsume’s Book of Friends
Natsume’s Book of Friends is adapted from the manga by Midorikawa Yuki, still ongoing in LaLa magazine published by Hakusensha, with cumulative Japanese print sales exceeding 18 million copies. The story follows Natsume Takashi, a young boy who has seen spirits (yokai) since childhood. He inherits the “Yuujinchou (友人帳)” — a book of friends — from his late grandmother Reiko, and sets out on a journey to return the names of the bound spirits within it, accompanied by his spirit guardian Nyanko-sensei.
The first TV anime season aired in 2008, and the most recent seventh season, Natsume’s Book of Friends: Shichi (夏目友人帳 漆), aired from October to December 2024. The franchise also includes the OVA Natsume’s Book of Friends: Itsuka Yuki no Hi ni (2014), the film Natsume’s Book of Friends the Movie: Tied to the Temporal World (2018), and the new anime Natsume’s Book of Friends: Ishi Okoshi to Ayashiki Raihousha (2021).
