A special POP UP SHOP themed around an “Artist” concept has been announced for Natsume’s Book of Friends (夏目友人帳), featuring all-new original illustrations rendered in a cool, understated monotone palette. The event runs from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 29, 2026, at Tower Records Shinjuku, Tower Records Umeda NU Chayamachi, and Tower Records Online.
About Natsume’s Book of Friends
Natsume’s Book of Friends is an ongoing manga by Yuki Midorikawa, serialized in Monthly LaLa. The story follows Natsume Takashi, a lonely boy who can see spirits (youkai). After inheriting his late grandmother Reiko‘s “Book of Friends” — a ledger of contracts she made with youkai — Natsume finds himself pursued by spirits eager to reclaim their names. He navigates this supernatural world alongside the self-proclaimed bodyguard Nyanko-sensei.
The TV anime has aired six seasons since its debut in 2008, with Hiroshi Kamiya voicing Natsume Takashi and Kazuhiko Inoue voicing Nyanko-sensei. A theatrical film featuring the series’ first feature-length original episode was released in September 2018, followed by a limited theatrical screening of two popular short episodes in January 2021. The seventh season, Natsume Yuujinchou Shichi (夏目友人帳 漆), began airing on October 7, 2024.

All goods feature newly drawn illustrations created exclusively for this event. The designs show Natsume Takashi, Tanuma Kaoru, Natori Shuuichi, and Matoba Seiji dressed in sharp, stylish outfits, while Nyanko-sensei steals the spotlight playing a saxophone.

Bonuses and Campaigns
For every ¥2,000 (tax included) spent on eligible items at the event venue, shoppers receive one randomly selected postcard. There are 10 designs in total, featuring individual characters, a Natsume & Nyanko-sensei duo illustration, and a full-cast group image.
On Tower Records Online, purchasing a full BOX of the “Artist ver. Trading Can Badge” set (10 pieces) earns a first-come, first-served bonus: an exclusive Nyanko-sensei Artist ver. Can Badge (Event Limited). Note that this bonus does not apply to in-store purchases.
A Follow & Repost campaign on X (Twitter) is also running to celebrate the event. Reposting the designated post and following both the official AMNIBUS and Tower Records Anime accounts enters participants into a draw for one Postcard Complete Set.
