The official website for Mahō no Princess Minky Momo Akogare no Yume e Magokoro no Duo — the new original video anime (OVA) in the Fairy Princess Minky Momo magical-girl franchise — announced on Friday that Tomohito Takatsuka and Yōko Hikasa are joining the cast. Takatsuka voices the young man Rubato, while Hikasa voices the boy Peter; both characters play a key role in the story.
Story
The OVA is set in Diginarsa, the land of dreams and hopes, which sustains itself on dream energy. As humans gradually lose their dreams and hopes, that energy dwindles and the land faces extinction. As a last resort, the king of Diginarsa dispatches his three companions — Chamocha, Dettabook, and Pipirupi — to seek Minky Momo’s help.
On her 12th birthday, a girl named Momo receives a smartphone as a gift. After meeting the king’s companions, she awakens as Minky Momo and resolves to save Diginarsa. As she steadily gathers dream energy, a mysterious app begins spreading through the city — but the dreams children share on it are shallow, driven by nothing more than a desire for recognition and view counts. Momo begins to question what everyone’s dreams truly mean.

A Historic Return
This OVA marks the franchise’s first new entry since Minky Momo in The Station of Your Memories in 1994 — a gap of 32 years. It opens in Japan on November 13. The franchise began with the original 1982–1983 television series, spawned a follow-up TV series in 1991–1992, and several OVAs. Crunchyroll began streaming the original television anime in January 2024.
