Kyoto Animation has made episode 1 of its TV anime Nijuseiki Denki Mokuroku -Eureka Evrika- (二十世紀電氣目録-ユーレカ・エヴリカ-) available to watch for free on the official KyoAni YouTube channel. The limited-time stream began on July 20 and runs until 11:59 a.m. on August 20 (JST). The episode is titled “Denki Shōnen” (電氣少年).
Story Overview
Set in an alternate-history Kyoto at the dawn of the 20th century — a world where steam power flourished in place of electricity — the series follows Sakamoto Kihachi, a boy adrift in despair after losing his older brother, and Momokawa Ineko, a girl carrying longing and regret for her late mother. The two embark on an adventure tied to the secrets of the “Nijuseiki Denki Mokuroku,” as the characters confront their past regrets and strive to reclaim their former dreams and their true selves.
The series began broadcasting in Japan in July on ABCテレビ, TOKYO MX, テレビ愛知, and BS11, and is streaming worldwide exclusively on Netflix.
Special Campaigns Tied to the Free Stream
Several fan events are running alongside the free episode release:
- Simultaneous Watch Party — Scheduled for July 26 at 9:00 p.m. JST, coinciding with the broadcast of episode 4.
- Daily Scene Cuts — From now through July 24, eight scene-cut images will be released daily at 5:00 p.m. JST via the official website and official X account for fans to use in their social media posts.
- Digital Content Bonus — If total posts using the hashtag #二十世紀電氣目録 on X/SNS surpass 20,000 from the first day of the free stream, a new piece of exclusive digital content will be distributed. Posts made during the Watch Party count as double.
