Good Smile Company has unveiled a new figure of Oscar François de Jarjayes from the iconic manga and anime series The Rose of Versailles (ベルサイユのばら), joining the company’s popular POP UP PARADE lineup. Pre-orders are currently open at Amiami.
About The Rose of Versailles
Created by Riyoko Ikeda, The Rose of Versailles is a sweeping tale of love and life set against the backdrop of the French Revolution. Originally serialized in Weekly Margaret (Shueisha) beginning in 1972, the series has now surpassed a cumulative 20 million copies in print. Oscar’s story — a woman raised as a man who defies the constraints of class and gender to forge her own destiny — resonated deeply with generations of readers. The series later became a cultural phenomenon through a Takarazuka Revue stage adaptation and a TV anime series. Most recently, a brand-new theatrical anime film was released on January 31, 2025.
Who Is Oscar François de Jarjayes?
Oscar is the youngest daughter of a distinguished noble family, raised as a son and heir. Known as a beautiful woman in men’s clothing, she rose to become commander of the French Royal Guard and served as a protector of Marie Antoinette. Her childhood friend André, the grandson of her wet nurse, remains one of her closest companions throughout the story.
