The original anime film GROTESQQQUE, directed by Atsushi Nishigori and produced by CloverWorks, has announced that veteran voice actor Akio Ohtsuka will play the Space Agency Director in the segment “Elianz” (エリィアンズ). Seven new scene cuts from the segment were also released alongside the announcement.

About GROTESQQQUE

Set to open on November 6, 2026, GROTESQQQUE is billed as a “full-throttle entertainment” experience comprising three standalone segments: “Elianz,” “Yoroshiku★Shojo” (夜露死駆★少女), and “Nocturne ~On This Grotesque Night~” (ノクターン～このグロテスクな夜に～).

“Elianz” Synopsis

In a world rife with prejudice and fear toward extraterrestrials, Elly — an alien girl who adores Earth’s culture and its wonderfully pointless everyday life — teams up with Kento Kunizo, a civil servant at the Space Agency, to search for “friends.” When Elly’s powers unexpectedly go haywire, she becomes the subject of public scrutiny and is gradually suspected of being an invader. Things escalate further when a hostile alien suddenly appears.

Elly is voiced by Kana Ichinose, while Kento is voiced by Gen Hoshino.

Ohtsuka’s Role

The Space Agency Director portrayed by Ohtsuka is a character who harbors wariness toward Elly, who has arrived on Earth as a space goodwill ambassador. The newly released scene cuts include Elly stuffing her cheeks with bread, Kento standing with a serious expression, the stern-faced Space Agency Director, a shot of Elly and Kento walking with an eager spring in their step, and scenes of Elly enjoying a meal and taking sticker photos with Earth women.

The film’s official website and X account have been running special features spotlighting “Elianz” since July 24.
