The picture book Papuwa-kun — born from Shibata Ami’s beloved manga Nankoku Shōnen Papuwa-kun — is teaming up with sock retailer Tabio‘s Kutsushitaya brand for a charming collaborative collection.
Limited Embroidered Socks, Nagasaki Only
Starting October 1, the collaboration socks will be available exclusively at two Nagasaki Prefecture locations: Kutsushitaya Nagasaki Hamacho and Kutsushitaya Amu Plaza Nagasaki.
The highlight of the collab is an in-store embroidery service where customers can have a one-point illustration of Papuwa-kun or Chappy stitched onto their socks on the spot. Mail-order embroidery is also available, and an online pre-order window — with limited quantities — will open from October 9 through 31.
Shibata Ami Takes the Floor as “Half-Day Manager”
On October 4, Shibata Ami herself will visit the Kutsushitaya Nagasaki Hamacho store to serve as its “half-day manager.” She will personally hand collab merchandise to customers who purchase items that day. Fans who bring their copy of the Papuwa-kun picture book to the event can also get it signed by the author.
