Pokémon fans visiting Tokyo this autumn have something special to look forward to. The event 「伝説のポケモンと出会う レジェンドリサーチ in 日本橋＆八重洲」 — Meet Legendary Pokémon: Legend Research in Nihonbashi & Yaesu — is set to run from September 9 to November 29, 2026, transforming the Nihonbashi and Yaesu districts of Tokyo into a Pokémon-filled adventure zone.
Celebrating 30 Years of Pokémon
The Pokémon franchise launched on February 27, 1996, with the release of Pocket Monsters Red & Green in Japan, making 2026 its 30th anniversary. Over three decades, the series has grown into a global phenomenon spanning TV anime, films, mobile apps, and merchandise.
100+ Pokémon Appear Across the City
Organized by Mitsui Fudosan in cooperation with The Pokémon Company, the event will place 19 life-size Pokémon statues — including Legendary Pokémon — at Mitsui Fudosan-managed venues such as Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower, COREDO Muromachi Terrace, and Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. In total, more than 100 Pokémon will appear both inside and outside buildings throughout the area. Viewing the Pokémon on display is entirely free of charge, making it accessible to anyone strolling through the neighborhood.
Paid Puzzle-Hunt Experience
For those who want a deeper challenge, the event offers a paid puzzle-hunt activity: 「ポケモンレジェンドリサーチ～伝説のリサーチレポートを呼び覚ませ！～」. Armed with a dedicated kit, participants explore the Nihonbashi and Yaesu areas, tracking down Legendary Pokémon and solving clues hidden at various spots around the city.
The puzzle content was created by RIDDLER, the team led by renowned puzzle creator Ryogo Matsumaru (松丸亮吾), a well-known Pokémon enthusiast. Matsumaru commented:
“It is truly an honor to create a puzzle experience centered on the world of Pokémon, which I love so much. I poured every bit of my Pokémon passion into it, weaving in 30 years of history and memories. Hints are plentiful, so even first-time puzzle players can jump right in. A great mystery surrounding the Legendary Pokémon awaits you!”
Vouchers to exchange for the puzzle kit went on sale on August 4, 2026, priced at ¥3,300 (tax included). They are available via Mitsui Shopping Park Ticket and Ticket Pia. Kits can be collected at the 1F reception desk of Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower.
Exclusive Event Merchandise
A dedicated goods corner on the 5th floor of Tokyo Midtown Yaesu will sell original merchandise featuring newly drawn key visuals created specifically for this event. Items on offer include:
