About the Manga

Chie Shinohara originally serialized Red River in Shogakukan’s Shōjo Comic (Sho-Comi) magazine from 1995 to 2002. The story follows Yuri, a Japanese girl whose life is upended when mysterious hands drag her through a puddle into an ancient Middle Eastern village, where she is captured by soldiers and brought to a queen’s palace as a human sacrifice. Viz Media published all 28 volumes in English between 2004 and 2010, and began re-releasing the series in 3-in-1 omnibus editions in October 2024, with the eighth omnibus arriving on July 21. The manga also inspired a stage production by the renowned all-female Takarazuka Revue troupe in 2018.
