The ＜超炎上版＞ (Cho-Enjo Edition) of 新劇場版 銀魂 -吉原大炎上- (Shin Gekijoban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjo) has been confirmed to open in cinemas across Japan on September 25, 2026.
A Massively Refined Cut of the Hit Film
The original Shin Gekijoban Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjo was a major box-office hit when it opened in February of this year. The new Cho-Enjo Edition retains the same story but delivers a significantly enhanced visual experience, with more than 200 cuts reworked across character expressions, textures, action sequences, camerawork, and lighting — resulting in a sharper, more immersive presentation.
First-Wave Admission Bonus: Four Exclusive Birthday Shikishi
Early attendees of the Cho-Enjo Edition will receive one of four specially drawn 「銀さんもうすぐお誕生日おめでとう色紙」 (“Gin-san’s Almost-Birthday Congratulations Shikishi”) as a first-wave admission bonus. The illustrations were created to celebrate Gin-san’s birthday on October 10, each drawn by a different animation director from the Gintama anime series:
- Shinji Takeuchi — “Gin-san with Haruta, Nichirin, and Tsukiyomi”
- Kae Takakura — “The Joui Shitennō (Four Heavenly Kings of Joui)”
- Kanae Suwa — “Gin-san and the Shinsengumi”
- Yumi Nakamura — “Yorozuya (Odd Jobs Gin)”
Stage Greeting and Birthday Events Planned
Pre-orders for tickets to a stage greeting (舞台挨拶) commemorating the Cho-Enjo Edition’s release have also opened, with a Live Viewing broadcast planned for cinemas nationwide. Additional events tied to Gin-san’s October 10 birthday are also in the works, with further details to be announced.
