The Television Academy has nominated the short film “Black” — directed by Shinya Ōhira and produced by david production as part of the Star Wars: Visions anthology — for Outstanding Animated Program at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The short goes up against episodes of Bob’s Burgers, Rick and Morty, The Simpsons, Smiling Friends, and South Park in the category. Winners will be revealed at the 2026 Emmy Awards ceremony on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Star Wars: Visions Expands with New Series Format
The Star Wars: Visions franchise is also growing through a new initiative called Star Wars: Visions Presents, which allows its animated stories to be told in longer narrative formats. Director Kenji Kamiyama is adapting his short “The Ninth Jedi” into a limited series, set to premiere on August 8. Kamiyama serves as both series script supervisor and general director on Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi.
