The team behind Suikoden: The Anime — the animated adaptation of Konami’s Suikoden II — dropped a second promotional video on Sunday, revealing three new cast members. The video was also screened at Anime Expo on Saturday.
Opening Theme by amazarashi
The new promo confirms that rock band amazarashi will perform the opening theme, titled “Kanashimi Sae Otonabite” (roughly, “Even in Sadness I’ll Look Like an Adult”).
Three New Cast Members
- Jin Yamanoi as Agares Blight, King of the Highland Kingdom and father of Luca and Jillia
- Miyuki Sawashiro as Anabelle, Mayor of Muse City and chairperson of the Jowston Alliance
- Kōdai Sakai as Jess, deputy mayor of Muse City, serving under Anabelle
Theatrical Screenings and Manga Adaptation
Ten theaters across Japan will screen the anime’s first three episodes for two weeks beginning August 21.
A manga adaptation was also announced, set to debut in volume 155 of Comic Dengeki DaiohG on July 27, drawn by Kochiya.

About Suikoden II
The story follows a hero and his close friend Jowy, both members of the Unicorn Youth Brigade, who took part in a prolonged border conflict between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston. After a peace agreement is signed and both sides welcome the end of hostilities, the embers of a new war quietly continue to smolder beneath the surface.
Franchise Background
Konami originally released Suikoden on PlayStation in 1995, with the sequel following in 1998. The franchise spans five mainline entries and five spinoff titles. In March 2025, Konami launched Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The company is also developing a new mobile and PC title, Gensō Suikoden: Star Leap.
