Summer 2026 is shaping up to be a packed season for anime fans in Japan, with interactive exhibitions, real escape games, pop-up stores, and limited-run collaborations opening across the country. Here is a full run-down of the headline events.

Volleyball Super-Experience “Haikyu!! On the Court”

An immersive exhibition letting visitors physically experience the world of Haikyu!! is touring Japan under the title Volleyball Super-Experience “Haikyu!! On the Court”. Built around the themes of “jump, spike, and connect,” the event features interactive exhibits, video content, and newly recorded voice performances. Voice actor Ayumu Murase (Hinata Shoyo) has endorsed the event, saying visitors can “feel the world of the series with their own bodies.” It is designed to be enjoyable for both die-hard fans and complete volleyball newcomers.

Real Escape Game × Detective Conan: “Escape from the Highway Chase”

A real escape game serving as a sequel story to the film Detective Conan: The Angel of the Highway is currently running at more than 40 venues worldwide, including locations in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Taiwan. Players join the Kanagawa Prefectural Police’s Traffic Control Command Center and must work alongside Conan to rescue Ran from a runaway self-driving bus. Each session runs approximately 120 minutes (60-minute time limit) for teams of up to six players. Prior knowledge of the film is not required.

Yazawa Ai × Yebisu Beer: “Beautiful Paintings and an Evening Festival”

The second collaboration between Yebisu Beer and manga artist Yazawa Ai, titled Yebisu no Bijinga to Yoimatsuri, is running at YEBISU BREWERY TOKYO through 31 August 2026. The “adult summer festival”-themed event showcases newly drawn bijinga (beautiful-woman paintings), reproduction original art, photo spots, limited merchandise, original beer, and exclusive food menus. A shorter run also takes place at JR Gate Tower Event Space in Nagoya from 13 to 20 July 2026.

Chiikawa ☆ Starfall Skytree and the Secret Island

To celebrate the theatrical release of Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu (Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island), Chiikawa and Tokyo Skytree have teamed up for Chiikawa ☆ Hoshi Furu Skytree® to Himitsu no Shima, running from 10 July to 31 October 2026. Highlights include story-based exhibition displays, photo spots for plushie photography, night-only special lighting, a limited café menu at SKYTREE CAFE on Floor 350, and exclusive merchandise. Access to the Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria requires a standard observation deck ticket.

Ultraman × mofusand Collab Goods at ULTRA MART TOKYO

ULTRA MART TOKYO, a new Ultraman-themed store in Harajuku, held its grand opening on 10 July 2026 and is selling exclusive mofusand × Ultraman collaboration merchandise. The line-up includes a “Shark Cat” plushie dressed as Ultraman Tiga, mascot keychains, and pins — all exclusive to this location. The store also features an approximately three-metre-tall Ultraman Tiga monument, photo spots, limited drinks, gacha machines, and Ultra Hero Meet & Greet sessions.

“Not Just Cute!? Pingu Exhibition”

Marking the 45th anniversary of Pingu, the “Kawaii Dake ja Nai!? Pingu-ten” exhibition is on at YURAKUCHO MUSEUM in Tokyo through 6 September 2026. Themed around an amusement park, the hands-on show features actual clay models and production materials used in the series, a corner where visitors can try speaking “Pingu language,” interactive game-style exhibits, and exclusive merchandise. The event is open to all ages and runs without any closures during its run.
