The TV anime 「スーパーの裏でヤニ吸うふたり」 (Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You) will launch a special version exclusive to ABEMA on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 8:30 p.m. Japan time.

About the Original Work

The series is adapted from the manga by Jinushi, which began on Twitter (now X) on March 9, 2022. Its first chapter drew more than 280,000 likes and generated major buzz. The manga is now serialized in Monthly Big GanGan and won first place in the web manga category of the “Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho 2022” awards. The series has surpassed 2.5 million copies in circulation as of July 2025.

Synopsis

Sasaki is a middle-aged office worker exhausted from his demanding job. He finds relief in cigarettes and in the warm smile of Yamada, a young woman who works at the supermarket. One night after a tiring day, he stops by the supermarket as usual, only to find that Yamada is not there and that he cannot find a place to smoke. Just as his spirits sink, a strangely dressed woman named Tayama approaches him and says, “You can smoke here.” That encounter marks the beginning of a warm adult drama about a relationship that gradually takes shape.

ABEMA-Exclusive Special Version

This version will present Episodes 1-6 from the TV broadcast in short-form versions of about 10 minutes each, arranged in story order. It will also feature opening and ending themes created separately from the TV version.

ABEMA Version Opening Theme: “クズリ念” by Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni.

The released non-credit opening clip shows an exhausted Sasaki being encouraged by Yamada before returning to face his work again. It also cuts between scenes of Sasaki and Tayama spending time together at the smoking area behind the supermarket across multiple seasons. The lonely atmosphere of Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni.‘s song fits the adult drama tone of the series.

ABEMA Version Ending Theme: “NIGHT DANCER” by imase

The ending theme is imase‘s “NIGHT DANCER.” The non-credit ending is told from Yamada/Tayama’s point of view, from her work life at the supermarket to the special moments when she meets Sasaki at the smoking spot behind the store. imase’s gentle vocals and the song’s nighttime theme softly wrap around the pair’s relationship.

TV Broadcast Version Songs

It was also revealed that the TV broadcast version’s opening theme, also handled by Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni., is titled 「イチジク煙」. The second main promotional video using the song will be released later. The TV version’s ending theme by imase is titled 「Fiction」.
