The anime 「タコピーの原罪」(Takopi’s Original Sin), which took the world by storm in 2025, is now officially heading to theaters. A special advance preview (特報) has been released alongside a message from the original manga author, タイザン5 (Taizan 5), who also contributed to the occasion.
From Manga Pages to a Global Phenomenon
「タコピーの原罪」is a manga by Taizan 5, serialized in the manga app 少年ジャンプ＋ (Shonen Jump+) published by Shueisha, beginning in November 2021. The story follows Takopi, an alien creature from the Happy Star who is cute and cheerful in appearance but comes into brutal collision with the harsh reality that children must face — creating an overwhelmingly powerful emotional response. The work topped the readership charts of its platform during that period, placed 3rd in the 「このマンガがすごい！2023」 (This Manga Is Amazing! 2023) award in the male category, and despite running only 2 volumes, total copies in print — including digital — reached 1.8 million.
The Anime That Became a Social Phenomenon
In June 2025, TBS Television and ENISHIYA teamed up to adapt the work into an anime in online streaming format only — without a terrestrial TV broadcast. Every time a new episode dropped, social media erupted with trending conversations across the country, turning the series into a genuine social phenomenon. The work went on to win the Best Anime category at the Filmarks Awards 2025, was selected for the TV section of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026, and earned nominations in 7 categories at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026, including Anime of the Year.
Coming to the Big Screen as “ありがとう、また明日”
This time, the anime 「タコピーの原罪」will be re-edited into a new theatrical cut titled 映画「タコピーの原罪 -ありがとう、また明日-」, compiling all 6 episodes into a cohesive new arrangement for cinema, along with entirely new footage not previously seen in the streaming version.
The special advance preview that was released conveys a message of gratitude and reunion: “To everyone who met Takopi — that story, please experience it one more time,” accompanied by shots of Takopi and Shizuka walking together, inviting fans to immerse themselves once more in the story and the feeling embedded in the phrase “ありがとう、また明日” (Thank you, see you again tomorrow) through the full theatrical experience.
