The official website of the anime Takopii no Genzai (Takopi’s Original Sin), adapted from the manga by Taizan 5, announced last Saturday that all 6 episodes of the series will be compiled into a single theatrical film. The film is titled Takopii no Genzai -Arigatō, Mata Ashita- (Takopi’s Original Sin: Thank You, See You Tomorrow) and will include new scenes not previously seen in the TV broadcast.
Story Synopsis
Takopi is a lovable but deeply earnest alien who lands on Earth and meets Shizuka, a girl weighed down by heartache. Fully determined to make her smile, Takopi sets out on his mission — only to discover that even traveling through time cannot easily heal every wound.

The series is directed by Iino Shinya, who previously directed Dr. Stone and Dr. Stone: Stone Wars. Nagahara Keita, known as the lead key animator on Violet Evergarden, Sound! Euphonium, and Sonny Boy, serves as character designer. The production studio is ENISHIYA.
Broadcast and Source Manga
The anime series (all 6 episodes) began streaming simultaneously on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ABEMA, U-NEXT, and other platforms starting June 28, 2025.
The original manga by Taizan 5 was serialized on Shonen Jump+ (Shueisha) from November 2021 to March 2022, collected into 2 compiled volumes with the final volume released in April 2022. An English-language version is available on MANGA Plus by Shueisha.
Awards and Recognition
The manga was nominated for the 16th Manga Taisho and the 27th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes in 2023, won the Manga Kingdom Tottori award at the 51st Japan Cartoonists Association Awards in 2022, and ranked 3rd in the male readers’ category of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022 guide.
