Story & Highlights
The series is set inside SATISFY, a VR game with two billion players worldwide where in-game wealth and fame carry real-world consequences. The protagonist, Takumi Nagamine, is a debt-ridden young man who logs in as the player Greed and clears a high-difficulty quest to obtain a Legendary Item, allowing him to reclass into the legendary blacksmith lineage Heir of Fagma.
The catch: his level resets to negative, forcing him to restart from almost nothing. Undeterred, Greed adopts the philosophy “If I can’t find powerful gear, I’ll forge it myself!” and begins crafting his own legend from the ground up.
Three highlights stand out: the satisfying crafting-based power fantasy as Greed builds his reputation through his own handiwork; a protagonist described by series composer Kenta Inohara as “more gutsy and human than anyone — the kind of guy you just can’t ignore”; and a richly populated game world featuring rank-one players in every class, including Jishka, the top archer and master of the Tzedaka Guild. Director Kawano also noted that the anime version of SATISFY features a newly added in-game AI guide system not present in the source material.
