The official website for the television anime adaptation of Tenkaichi: Nihon Saikyō Bugeisha Ketteisen — the manga by artist Kyōtarō Azuma and author Yōsuke Nakamaru — launched on Thursday, unveiling a teaser promotional video, teaser visual, main cast, staff lineup, and an April 2027 premiere date.

Story
This is not history as we know it. The year is 1600 — a decade after Oda Nobunaga unified all of Japan. Sensing that his life is drawing to a close, Nobunaga declares that he will hand over the reins of power to whoever presents him with the mightiest warrior in the land. The nation’s generals, their dreams of conquest long suppressed, now enter their strongest champions in a bid to claim the throne.
The opening bout pits the peerless spear-wielder Honda Tadakatsu (backed by Tokugawa Ieyasu) against the ever-evolving prodigy Miyamoto Musashi (backed by Chosokabe Motochika).
About the Manga
The manga launched in Kodansha’s Young Magazine the 3rd in January 2021, then transferred to Monthly Young Magazine in May 2021 after the former ceased publication. Kodansha will release the manga’s 14th compiled volume on August 20. An English-language version is simultaneously available through Kodansha’s K MANGA service.
