The TV anime Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita II (I Was Reincarnated as a Sword II) has released its first key visual, second promotional video (PV), and a broadcast commercial ahead of its autumn 2026 premiere.
Key Visual and Second PV
The first key visual depicts Fran and her Shisho (Master) facing off against the season’s major new antagonist, Lich, voiced by Sho Hayami. The second PV delivers high-octane action sequences against hordes of undead monsters and Lich himself. It also includes a suggestive cut hinting at the connection between Nanashi — voiced by Shiori Izawa — and the floating island that serves as the duo’s destination this season.
Theme Songs
The opening theme will be “DREAM OF BUTTERFLY” by FZMZ, while the ending theme will be “Bari Bari Buddy” by 花冷え。(Hanabiyori). Both artists shared comments alongside the announcement.
FZMZ frontman MAQUMA described the song as built around the paradox of “Zhuangzi’s butterfly dream,” asking the question: “Which is the real you — before or after reincarnation?” — a theme he called a perfect fit for the series.
花冷え。 said they crafted a grand, large-scale track befitting Fran and Shisho’s epic journey, with a chorus designed for everyone to sing along to, expressing hope that the song will make them “Bari Bari Buddies” with all the fans.
Story
Based on the novel series by Yu Tanaka (published by Micro Magazine under the GC Novels imprint), Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita follows a protagonist reincarnated as a sword in another world, who teams up with Fran, a cat-eared girl who calls him “Master.” Season 2 follows their journey toward a floating island high in the sky.
