Crunchyroll announced at New York Comic Con on Thursday that The Remarried Empress, the webtoon by HereLee and SUMPUL — itself based on Alphatart’s original web novel — is getting a television anime adaptation. Studio TROYCA is producing the project, which is scheduled to broadcast in 2027.

Cast & Staff

The main voice cast is as follows:

  • Yōko Hikasa as Navier
  • Ryōhei Kimura as Heinrey
  • Tomoaki Maeno as Sovieshu
  • Reina Ueda as Rashta

Tetsuya Yanagisawa (Berserk of Gluttony, High School DxD) is directing at TROYCA. Akiko Inoue (An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess) is supervising and writing the series scripts. Jun Nakai (GATE, NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a) is handling character design, and Yūki Fukazawa is composing the music.

Story

The romantic fantasy centers on Navier, the flawless Empress of the Eastern Empire, who opts for divorce upon learning that her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, intends to replace her with his mistress, Rashta. Refusing to surrender her imperial status, Navier sets out to become an Empress in another realm.

About the Webtoon

The webtoon has amassed over 2.97 billion global views and has been translated into 10 languages, with a particularly strong following in Japan. After a seven-year run, the series concluded in January, but will return this fall with side stories. The English version is available on WEBTOON, while Ize Press is publishing the series in print.

Live-Action Adaptation

Alongside the anime, a live-action series adaptation is also in the works. It will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on November 4, releasing two new episodes every Wednesday through the series finale on November 25, for a total of 10 episodes.
