Japanese publisher Ichijinsha has officially announced that the manga Would You Like to Be a Tanuki? (Japanese title: Omae, Tanuki ni Narenē-ka?), a work by Tomo Nagawa, is receiving a TV anime adaptation. Alongside the announcement, the production team has released a teaser video and the first key visual for fans to enjoy. Nagawa has also drawn a special celebratory illustration to mark the occasion.

Story Overview
The story revolves around Konganemaru, a legendary tanuki-like creature who wanders the world seeking people going through painful hardships in life, and asks them: “Would you like to try becoming a tanuki?” Each transformation becomes a new starting point for each person to rediscover what matters most to them.
Manga Background
Nagawa began serializing this manga in Ichijinsha’s digital manga magazine Comic Pool in April 2021. A total of 9 collected volumes are currently available, with the most recent released in October 2025. Volume 10 is scheduled for release on May 25.
