Bandai Namco Filmworks has unveiled a new teaser trailer for Nijiiro no Rinne (Rainbow-Colored Reincarnation), the seventh and final entry in Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199 (known internationally as Star Blazers: Be Forever Yamato – Rebel 3199). The teaser is set to “Ai Yo Sono Hi Made” (“Love Until That Day”) performed by Akira Fuse — the ending theme of the original 1980 Be Forever Yamato anime film — lending the preview a strong sense of nostalgia and closure.
Nijiiro no Rinne is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on October 30. The series is available worldwide on Crunchyroll under the title Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199.
Film Series Timeline
The Rebel 3199 project is structured as a seven-film series. Here is how each entry has rolled out:
- Film 1 — Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion): Opened July 2024; earned 58,863,050 yen (approx. US$376,419) in its opening three days.
- Film 2 — Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun): Premiered November 2024; earned 64,118,600 yen (approx. US$410,028) in its first three days. Retail Blu-ray and DVD shipped in January 2025. Megumi Han took over the role of Sasha in this film, following in the footsteps of her mother Keiko Han, who voiced the character in the original Be Forever Yamato.
- Film 3 — Gunjō no Asteroid (Ultramarine Asteroid): Opened April 2025.
- Film 4 — Mizuiro no Sasha (The Aqua Sasha): Opened October 2025; Blu-ray and DVD shipped December 2025.
- Film 5: Opened in Japan on February 20.
- Film 6 — Aoi Meikyū (Blue Labyrinth): Opened June 26. In the story, the Yamato passes through a space-time node, transporting the main characters to Tokyo in the year 2026 during the present-day Reiwa era.
- Film 7 — Nijiiro no Rinne: Opens October 30.
Staff
Naomichi Yamato (episode director on From the New World and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) is directing the series. Harutoshi Fukui serves as supervising director in addition to his roles as head writer and scriptwriter, with Hideki Oka returning as co-writer.
Nobuteru Yūki returns as character designer. Mechanical designs are handled by Junichirō Tamamori, Mika Akitaka, and Atsushi Ishizu. Hiroyuki Gotō serves as CG producer, Shōsuke Uechi as CG director, and Tomohiro Yoshida as sound director.
Music is composed by Akira Miyagawa alongside Shū Kanematsu (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses). The late Hiroshi Miyagawa, Akira’s father and the original Space Battleship Yamato composer, is also credited for music.
As with previous entries in the franchise, the late producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki is credited for the original work, while his son Shōji Nishizaki serves as chief production supervisor and copyright chief supervisor.
Series Context
Rebel 3199 is a sequel to Uchū Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Kōshō –STASHA– (Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage Part II: Stasha), which opened in February 2022.
