The manga 「深夜3時のアルバイト」 (Part-Time Job at 3 in the Morning), a work by Yatsumoe (ヤツモエ), officially went on sale on May 22 from publisher Kobunsha under the Nettai COMICS imprint.
Story Summary
The protagonist is Haneda, a young man struggling so much financially that he lives with his mother, who has hikikomori (shut-in) tendencies. He decides to take on a strange new part-time job — sitting alone on a roadside bench in the dead of night, observing and recording the characteristics of passersby.
Because it is the late hours, almost no one is around, and most of the work is quiet waiting. But the unusual nature of the job has spread by word of mouth among coworkers, with rumors that “the real employer is actually an alien.” Because of the job’s peculiar nature, the people who come to apply tend to have their own unexpected and strange secrets. The conversations that fill the slow, waiting hours gradually reveal the life and hidden complexities each person carries within.
