Yaho Brewing, the maker of popular craft beer Yona Yona Ale, has announced a collaboration with Koyama Chuya‘s manga Space Brothers (宇宙兄弟). The Yona Yona Ale Space Brothers Collab Design Can will go on sale in limited quantities at Lawson and Natural Lawson convenience stores nationwide in Japan from mid-July.
Why These Two Make a Perfect Pair
The collaboration was born from a shared spirit of chasing dreams. Space Brothers follows brothers Nanba Mutta and Hibito as they pursue their astronaut ambitions, while Yaho Brewing has long been on its own mission to “transform Japan’s beer culture through craft beer.” Both also share the moon as a central icon — making the partnership a natural fit.
A Can Designed Front to Back
The collab can is designed so that the front and back work together to expand the world of both brands. The front face features the Yona Yona Ale universe, while the back is adorned with memorable scenes from the pages of Space Brothers.
Proceeds Support ALS Research via the Serika Fund
A portion of sales from the collab can will be donated to the Serika Fund (せりか基金), a support initiative named after Space Brothers character Serika that funds research into the causes and treatment of ALS. The donation is part of Yaho Brewing’s corporate mission — “Flavor in beer! Happiness in life!” — and follows previous charity goods and social media campaigns the company has run in partnership with the fund.
Special Limited Menus at YONA YONA BEER WORKS
Alongside the can release, YONA YONA BEER WORKS (three locations) and YONA YONA TOKYO BREWERY will offer exclusive limited menus from July 20 to 31. Four different dishes — one per venue — have been created by Space Brothers-loving chefs who drew inspiration directly from the manga’s story and motifs.
