Chiikawa fans in Osaka, get ready. The warm and cozy official bakery 「Chiikawa Bakery OSAKA」 will grand open on June 26, 2026 on the 3rd floor of KITTE Osaka in Umeda. This marks the official first Osaka branch, following the original Harajuku-Omotesando store in Tokyo, which opened in October 2024 and quickly became a landmark that fans continued to visit.
What Is Chiikawa?
Chiikawa is a manga by illustrator Nagano that began as posts on X, formerly Twitter, before becoming hugely popular across Japan. The story follows Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, and their friends as they face days that are cute yet subtly filled with sadness and hardship. Kodansha has published eight compiled volumes under the title 「ちいかわ なんか小さくてかわいいやつ」. A TV anime has aired on Fuji TV’s Mezamashi TV since April 2022, and the film 「映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ」 is scheduled to open on July 24, 2026.
World-Class Bread Craftsmanship
The appeal of Chiikawa Bakery is not only the cuteness of its characters, but also the quality of its bread. The menu is supervised by Junichi Sawada, owner-chef of a bakery and representative of HIJ Library LLC, who represented Japan in the decorative bread category at the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie 2026 in France.
