The TV anime Kanojo no Tomodachi, based on the manga by Jura currently serialized on Yanmaga Web and Comic DAYS, is officially scheduled to premiere in October 2026. The announcement also revealed the main cast, staff, first key visual, and official website.
Story
The story follows Takeru, a high school boy with a cute girlfriend named Kaori. His feelings become complicated when he finds himself drawn to Tomoko, his girlfriend’s close friend. The result is a relationship drama filled with moral conflict and emotional tension.

Cast and Director Comments
Ruka Nagaike said he could not put the original manga down because he wanted to know what path the characters would choose. He also noted that this is his first voice acting role and that he will give everything he has to portraying Takeru.
Sayaka Hashi described Kaori as cheerful, energetic, and driven by a strong sense of justice, adding that she found many parts of the character close to herself. Miki Hase said Tomoko is difficult to pin down but deeply magnetic, and hopes viewers will feel her charm through the anime.
Director Takashi Ando said he was struck by the realism of the manga’s body drawing. He admitted that drawing large-breasted characters is not personally his strongest area, but said he will work hard to make every female character look attractive and compelling.
Special Campaign
The anime’s official X account is running a campaign to celebrate the key visual reveal. Three winners who follow the account and repost the designated post will receive special prizes. The campaign runs until June 21.
