Grow Up Show ~Himawari no Circus-dan~, an original anime co-produced by Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, and Psyde Kick Studio, is set to premiere on Saturday, July 4, 2026, on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other channels. The production has unveiled its main visual alongside two promotional TV spots.
Story
Set in Japan during the early Showa 30s — the height of the country’s postwar economic boom — when circus performances were a central form of popular entertainment, the series follows Himawari Circus, a perpetually cash-strapped troupe grinding through its touring circuit. The story kicks off when Tsurumaki Mizuka, a prodigious circus talent, joins the troupe under mysterious circumstances.
Main Visual and Theme Songs
The main visual was illustrated by Makino Kazutoshi, the series’ character designer and chief animation director, depicting each member of Himawari Circus in the midst of their individual acts.
The opening theme has been confirmed as 「ユラリユレル」 (Yurari Yureru) by NOMELON NOLEMON, while the ending theme is 「DAYS!」 by Aooo. The two promotional TV spots each feature one of the songs. Both acts are connected to producer Tsumiki, who shared a comment on the project.
Comment from Tsumiki
“NOMELON NOLEMON and Aooo are both music teams I founded myself, but they’ve each taken completely different approaches. Receiving this offer felt like watching two lines that should never intersect suddenly cross — it was an exciting, almost surreal feeling. The circus and music share something in common: a physical side that pushes the limits of human ability, and a spiritual side that moves the heart through sheer soul and intensity. As a member of both acts, I drew on everything I’ve seen and felt throughout my career to craft songs that reflect both the circus and Grow Up Show. I hope listeners enjoy discovering the differences and similarities between the two artists’ sounds and lyrics.”
