A new episode of the live-action short movie series Mou Hitotsu no Crayon Shin-chan: Yakan no Kazoku da zo! (Season 2) has been released, and Episode 3 marks the first appearance of Kubo Shiori (久保史緒里) as an adult version of the beloved character Ai-chan — full name Suotome Ai.
About the Project
The series is a collaboration between the long-running anime Crayon Shin-chan and the barley tea brand Yakan no Mugicha. It originally launched in April 2025 as the franchise’s very first live-action short movie, presented in the form of a commercial. Set in a future beyond the manga and anime timeline, it depicts the everyday life of the Nohara family. Season 2 began rolling out in April 2026.
Episode 3 — “Ichizu na Ai-chan da zo!”
Suotome Ai, the refined young heiress who has always harbored feelings for Shinnosuke, takes center stage in Episode 3. Even as an adult, her love for Shinnosuke remains unchanged — and she sets a full-blown proposal plan into motion in her characteristically earnest fashion.
Also appearing in the episode is Kuroiso, Ai-chan’s devoted bodyguard who is practically family to her, played by Ikeda Narishi (池田成志). True to form, Kuroiso cheers Ai-chan on in her romantic endeavor. Both on-set stills and behind-the-scenes making-of photos have been released alongside the episode.
Summer Bottle Collection
Tying in with the campaign, a special collection of 15 limited-edition summer bottles — titled Kazoku no Meigen-tsuki! Natsu no Crayon Shin-chan Bottle (Summer Crayon Shin-chan Bottles with Family Quotes) — went on sale on June 15. Each bottle features a summer-themed illustration of Shinnosuke wearing a kettle on his head, while the sides are adorned with memorable scenes and iconic quotes from the Crayon Shin-chan film series.
