Anime studio MAPPA announced during its “15th Anniversary Lineup Reveal” livestream on Friday that it is producing a television anime adaptation of Coco Uzuki‘s manga Fall in Love, You False Angels (Koiseyo Mayakashi Tenshi-domo), slated to air in 2027. A teaser promotional video accompanying the announcement marked the first public look at animated footage from the project.

Story
Otogi Katsura is a beautiful first-year high schooler known to her classmates as a sweet, angelic class president — but behind that image lies someone brash, assertive, and quick to call out bad behavior. Her counterpart, vice president Toki Ninomae, appears equally polished and perfectly composed. When a group of boys tries to hit on Otogi at a train station and she fires back without hesitation, Toki witnesses the exchange — and, to her surprise, he seems to enjoy it. It soon becomes clear that the seemingly flawless vice president has a hidden side of his own, one that makes Otogi find him more attractive than ever. The two agree to keep each other’s true selves a secret from their classmates, but their shared secret may end up drawing them closer together than either expected.
About the Manga
Uzuki launched the manga in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine in April 2023. The series reached its seventh compiled volume in Japan on June 12. The manga won the Kodansha Manga Awards in 2025, received a nomination for the Shogakukan Manga Awards the same year, and has appeared in the Top 20 of Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! (This Manga Is Amazing!) rankings for female readers across multiple years. Kodansha USA Publishing holds the English-language license.
