The manga adaptation C-Rank Magic Student Who Thinks He’s SSS-Rank (自分をSSS級だと思い込んでいるC級魔術学生) launched its first volume today, June 20, published by Overlap under the Gardo Comics imprint. The series is drawn by Wakabayashi Yusuke and is based on the original light novel by nkmr.
Story
The protagonist, Ichinose Shion, is a student at a magic academy whose grades place him firmly in the C rank. Despite his mediocre standing, his air of mysterious composure leads classmates to suspect he must be concealing extraordinary power beneath the surface.
In reality, Shion has constructed an elaborate personal fantasy: he believes himself to be an SSS-rank sorcerer on par with the great heroes of legend, deliberately hiding his “true strength” from the world. The catch, of course, is that his actual ability is undeniably C-rank — nothing more.
Armed with a boundless imagination and a surprising flair for acting, Shion repeatedly drags those around him into one magnificent misunderstanding after another, accidentally building a reputation as a legendary hero. The result is a comedy of errors driven entirely by delusion and bravado.
