ภาพคีย์วิชวลアニメ Iron Wok Jan! แสดงตัวละครหลักในชุดเชฟพร้อมกระทะเหล็ก

The official website for the Iron Wok Jan! (Tetsunabe no Jan!) television anime — based on Shinji Saijyo‘s cooking manga — has released an “alternate” version of the series’ main promotional video alongside a new key visual. The video introduces a new cast member and previews the ending theme song “Naita Akuma” (The Devil Who Cried), performed by singer EMUNIMINI.

The alternate PV puts food critic Nichido Otani — a character described as having Japan’s most refined palate and worst personality — front and center, delivering an animated commentary on protagonist Jan’s cooking.

New Cast Member

Tomokazu Sugita joins the cast as Ryūji Bitō, a wandering Chinese cuisine chef who travels from restaurant to restaurant challenging other chefs to cooking competitions. He goes by the nickname “XO Sauce Ryū.”

Story

The original manga follows Jan Akiyama, a brilliantly talented young chef working at a top-class restaurant, where he constantly butts heads with Kiriko Gobanchō, the owner’s granddaughter and a formidable chef in her own right. Their rivalry is rooted in a fundamental clash of philosophy: Kiriko believes food should be made with the customer’s happiness in mind, while Jan sees cooking purely as a means of competition.
