The final episode of the Marriage Toxin television anime — based on the manga by Jōmyaku and artist Mizuki Yoda — announced on Wednesday that the series will return for a second season in 2027. The production team simultaneously released an announcement promotional video.
Story
For centuries, the deadly arts have been perfected by those known as the Masters. Among them, the Poison Masters of the Five Great Families hold the most fearsome power and influence. Hikaru Gero, heir to the Gero Family, has spent his entire life in the underworld, far removed from love or marriage.
When the Gero Family head decrees that Hikaru’s sister must bear an heir to preserve the bloodline — by force if necessary — Hikaru vows to protect her at any cost. His path then crosses with Mei Kinosaki, a brilliant marriage swindler who becomes the target of his latest job. Realizing that marriage may be the only solution to both the succession crisis and his sister’s predicament, Hikaru impulsively asks Mei to help him find a bride.

With the cunning Mei as his advisor, elite assassin Hikaru sets out on the most challenging mission of his life: finding a wife. Together, this unlikely duo takes on the world’s toughest mission for love.
Staff & Music
Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday) directed the anime at Bones Film with production supervision by BONES. Kimiko Ueno (Astro Note) handled series composition and scripts, while Taisei Iwasaki (BELLE) and Yuma Yamaguchi (Metallic Rouge) composed the music. Kōhei Tokuoka (The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity) served as chief animation director and character designer.

About the Manga
Jōmyaku and Yoda launched Marriage Toxin on the Shonen Jump+ app in April 2022. Shueisha released the manga’s 17th compiled volume on April 3. Viz Media holds the English-language license, and the manga is also available in English on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus app.
