A brand-new live stage production titled 忍劇「NARUTO -ナルト-」 (Ninjageki NARUTO) — based on Masashi Kishimoto‘s globally beloved manga — has been officially announced for Kyoto’s Naniza (南座) theater, running from February through June 2027.
A Nonverbal Spectacle of Ninja Arts
The show is conceived as a fully nonverbal experience, meaning no spoken dialogue will be used at any point. Instead, the story is conveyed entirely through physical performance — including action sequences and acrobatics — combined with projection mapping and illusion technology. The production will also make full use of the unique stage machinery of the Naniza, a storied kabuki theater, to bring the ninjutsu of the NARUTO world to life.
Staff
Direction is handled by Ueki Go, who previously directed Attack on Titan -the Musical- and Sailor Moon -Shining Theater Shinagawa Tokyo-. Script composition is by Kameda Shinjiro. Joining as Global Creative Consultant is Neil Dorward, a creative figure associated with Cirque du Soleil.
