Publisher Ink Pop announced at Anime Expo that it has licensed the manga My Neighbor Yokai by noho. The announcement was made during the “Ink Pop: Manga for the Family” panel by Wonhee Cho.
Synopsis
The series is set in a town where humans and all manner of spirits and monsters live together in harmony. The story centers on Buchio, an ordinary cat who suddenly sprouts a second tail and becomes a talking cat spirit. Determined to understand the yokai living around him, Buchio sets out to learn about his supernatural neighbors and master his newly acquired powers.
Publication History
The manga originally began serialization on Twitter in 2018, and was later also serialized by East Press on the Mato Grosso website. The series currently comprises four main volumes and two spinoff volumes. The second spinoff volume — the most recent release in the series — shipped on April 17.
Television Anime
The manga inspired a television anime adaptation that debuted in April 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the anime simultaneously with its Japanese broadcast.
