About the Source Game
Developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by SIE, Ghost of Tsushima originally launched on PlayStation 4 in July 2020, followed by a PlayStation 5 version in August 2021 and a PC release in May 2024. The game is a fictionalized account of the 1274 Mongol invasion of Tsushima Island, following samurai Jin Sakai — the last survivor of his clan — as he wages a guerrilla war against the invaders. A sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, launched in October 2025, set over 300 years later in 1603 Hokkaido.
About Ghost of Tsushima: Legends
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a multiplayer expansion to the original game that launched in October 2020 and became available as a standalone title in September 2021. Rather than the historical grounding of the base game, Legends draws on Japanese folklore and mythology — the same thematic territory the anime series will explore.
