Studio Trigger took to its panel at Anime Expo on Saturday to announce that the studio is developing a brand-new project directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi with a screenplay by Kazuki Nakashima — marking the fourth collaboration between the celebrated duo.
A Legendary Partnership Reignited
Imaishi and Nakashima have previously joined forces on three landmark titles: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (2007), Kill la Kill (2013), and the theatrical film Promare (2019). The announcement confirmed that their fourth project is now officially in motion at Trigger.
Hiromi Wakabayashi was also confirmed to be involved in the new project.

Promare, the duo’s most recent collaboration, was screened in the United States by Fathom Events and GKIDS in September 2019, followed by a digital release in April 2020 and a home video release in May 2020. The film later began streaming on HBO Max in January 2021.
