The official website for the anime adaptation of Akuji Katō‘s comedy manga The Demons Are Planning Something Good (Ma no Mono-tachi wa Kuwadateru) has announced the series’ voice cast, additional staff members, a new visual, and a 2027 television premiere window.

The anime is being produced at TNK under the direction of Takuya Asaoka, known for Redo of Healer, Immoral Guild, and VTuber Legend: How I Went Viral after Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, who previously handled series composition on Redo of Healer and Immoral Guild, is writing the scripts, while Hiraku Kaneko — a veteran of Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid and Immoral Guild — is serving as character designer.
Story
Licensed in English by Yen Press, the manga follows the hardworking underlings of a Demon Lord as they research, develop, and deploy creative new methods to terrorize adventurers — from slime that dissolves only clothing to tentacles calibrated for maximum discomfort. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the surprisingly demanding logistics of running an evil army of darkness.
Publication History
Katō originally began posting the manga on their Twitter (now X) account in 2022. Kadokawa then launched a serialization on its DraDra Sharp# web manga platform in March 2023, with illustrations by Gashigashi. The manga’s fourth compiled volume is scheduled for release on July 9 under Kadokawa’s Dragon Comic Edge imprint.
Katō is also the artist behind the manga adaptation of Hisago Amazake-no’s Knight’s & Magic novel series, which ran from April 2016 through March 2022 across 17 volumes. An anime adaptation of that series aired in July 2017 and was streamed by Crunchyroll.
