Character-collaboration watch brand GARRACK has unveiled a new wristwatch inspired by Fuchikoma, the iconic multi-legged tank from the TV anime 攻殻機動隊 THE GHOST IN THE SHELL (Ghost in the Shell), based on the manga by Shirow Masamune. The model number is SMS-KK-42-FK.
Raden Craft: Where “Shell” Meets Craftsmanship
The watch’s most striking feature is its dial decorated with raden (螺鈿) — a traditional Japanese craft technique that uses the iridescent nacre layer of shells to create intricate inlaid designs. Each piece is handcrafted individually by skilled artisans. The design concept draws directly from the word “Shell” in the title, which also alludes to the series’ central theme of the prosthetic body (義体). Because raden shifts in color and pattern depending on the viewing angle, the Fuchikoma depicted on the dial appears to come alive as the watch moves.
Design Details
Every component of the watch has been thoughtfully mapped to a part of Fuchikoma’s anatomy:
- Fuchikoma’s wheels serve as the hour indices
- Its arms become the watch hands
- The right arm incorporates an open-heart complication, evoking the movement of Fuchikoma’s manipulator
- The caseback is engraved with the 攻殻機動隊 THE GHOST IN THE SHELL logo
Price and Availability
The watch is priced at ¥79,200 (tax included). Pre-orders open on July 17, with the official release set for July 31 via the WORLD WIDE WATCH online store and select retail partners. A dedicated page on the WORLD WIDE WATCH website lists all participating stores.
About the Anime
攻殻機動隊 THE GHOST IN THE SHELL is the latest TV anime entry in the Ghost in the Shell franchise. It follows Section 9, led by Motoko Kusanagi, as they battle cybercrime — and find themselves on the trail of a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master. The series is airing in the Summer 2026 anime season.
