Fans of Chiikawa (ちいかわ) have a new must-have on their shelves: Anime Chiikawa Himitsu Zukan (“Anime Chiikawa Secret Encyclopedia”), the franchise’s very first official character encyclopedia, went on sale today.
About Chiikawa
Chiikawa is a manga series by illustrator Nagano, which originated on X (formerly Twitter) before becoming a nationwide phenomenon in Japan. The series follows the everyday lives of the ever-earnest Chiikawa alongside friends Hachiware and Usagi, and a cast of colourful characters, in a world that blends cuteness with bittersweet, occasionally tough moments.
The manga is published by Kodansha under the title Chiikawa: Nanka Chiisaku te Kawaii Yatsu, with eight volumes currently available. A TV anime has been airing within the Mezamashi TV morning programme on Fuji TV since April 2022, and a theatrical film, Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu, is set to open on 24 July.
