The new manga series 「修学旅行～京都・奈良4泊4日～」 (Shūgaku Ryokō ~Kyoto・Nara 4 Haku 4 Nichi~ / School Trip ~Kyoto & Nara, 4 Nights 4 Days~) made its debut in the August 2026 issue of Bessatsu Shōnen Champion (Akita Shoten), which went on sale July 15. The series launched with a colour opening spread.
Story: Endlessly Reliving Day Two of the School Trip
The series is written by Tsukamoto Masaya and drawn by Demo. Described as an ensemble SF mystery, it follows a group of high school students on a four-night, five-day school trip to Kyoto and Nara.
The story opens on a tour bus, where a guide begins explaining Kiyomizudera Temple — only for a male student named Takeuchi to recite the exact same explanation word for word at the same moment. The reason: Takeuchi has been stuck reliving the second day of the school trip in an endless loop, and no matter what he tries, he cannot break the cycle.
Other Highlights in the August Issue
The cover of this issue features a teaser visual for the live-action film adaptation of Darwin’s Game (original manga by FLIPFLOPS), starring Nakagawa Taishi. The issue also announces a manga adaptation of the novel 「ダーウィンズゲーム ～フラッグゲーム～」 (Darwin’s Game: Flag Game), written by FLIPFLOPS story writer Miyama Shū. The manga version will be drawn by Gūno and is set to begin serialisation from the November issue.
The issue’s bonus supplement is a set of holographic die-cut stickers — 「キラキラ☆ゴージャス★ダイカットシール」 — featuring original artwork from Nyaromeron‘s Mount Celeb Kaneda-san.
Looking ahead, the September 2026 issue (on sale August 12) will launch another new series, 「朝霞あにあね」 (Asaka Ani Ane), a twin-sibling slapstick comedy. The magazine has billed it as a “big surprise new series,” and the author has not yet been revealed.
