Three beloved Studio Ghibli films will air uncut on Nippon TV’s 「金曜ロードショー」(Friday Road Show / Kinro) on three consecutive Fridays beginning August 7, the network has announced.
Broadcast Schedule
- August 7 — The Borrower Arrietty (借りぐらしのアリエッティ), with the timeslot expanded by 5 minutes. The film was planned and written by Hayao Miyazaki and directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi.
- August 14 — Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (風の谷のナウシカ), with the timeslot expanded by 30 minutes. Hayao Miyazaki wrote the original work, screenplay, and directed the film, while Isao Takahata served as producer.
- August 21 — My Neighbor Totoro (となりのトトロ), for which Hayao Miyazaki handled the original story, screenplay, and direction.
All three films are iconic entries in the Ghibli catalogue. The uncut broadcasts give Japanese audiences a rare chance to experience each film in its entirety on free-to-air television.
