An official website launched on Thursday to announce a television anime adaptation of Shikiso Utsuzawa‘s light novel series Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For! (Shin no Seijo de Aru Watashi wa Tsuihō Saremashita), slated to premiere in 2027. The site debuted a teaser visual alongside the main cast and staff announcements.
To mark the occasion, both Pukyunosuke — the novels’ original character designer — and manga adaptation artist Mokuba Matsu contributed celebratory illustrations.

Story
Ever since childhood, Eliane has served as the saint and protector of the Kingdom of Belkheim, warding off monsters and ensuring bountiful harvests through her prayers. When a pretender saint deceives her foolish fiancé — the crown prince — into believing she is a fraud, he calls off their engagement and banishes her from the kingdom. Homeless and penniless yet free for the first time in her life, Eliane sets out for a neighboring kingdom hoping to live quietly as a commoner, only for a chance encounter on the road to completely overturn her modest plans.
Background
Utsuzawa originally launched the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō web fiction platform in June 2020. Kodansha began publishing the light novel series with illustrations by Pukyunosuke in January 2021; the seventh volume shipped in Japan in December 2024.
Mokuba Matsu’s manga adaptation launched in April 2021 on Kodansha’s Palcy app, with the 13th compiled volume due in Japan on July 30. Kodansha USA Publishing has been releasing the manga digitally in English since 2024 — the first physical volume arrived on March 31, with the third volume due July 28. The manga is also available in English via K MANGA.
