The summer 2026 TV anime Yani Neko has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for Episode 4, “Nyaa no Mawari wa Henjin Bakari nya” (Everyone Around Nya Is a Weirdo), set to air on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
About Yani Neko
Yani Neko is based on the manga by Nyannyan Factory, serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine. The series is a comedy following the smoke-filled, slovenly daily lives of a group of irresistibly unlikable cat beastpeople. In a world where humans and beastpeople coexist, Yani Neko — a cat-type beastperson — spends her days chain-smoking and loafing around with no money, no life skills, and absolutely no manners to speak of. Dirty, lazy, and good-for-nothing, she and her friends somehow manage to live surprisingly fulfilling lives. The manga went viral on social media as something “pretty filthy, but oddly encouraging,” and has now made the leap to television animation.
Episode 4 Synopsis
No matter whether she tries to help someone or hold down a job, Yani Neko always ends up causing trouble for everyone around her. After getting fired from her part-time job, she finds herself working as an assistant to Ochinpo Tatsuro, an erotic manga artist who lives in the same apartment building.
Things quickly go sideways when Yani Neko accidentally scorches Ochinpo Tatsuro’s manuscript pages, leaving her obligated to make amends. To make matters worse, the police show up at Ochinpo Tatsuro’s door in the middle of all the chaos. Even with nothing to offer but cigarettes, Yani Neko is determined to do something to help her neighbor.
