Anime studio Twin Engine has begun streaming a new promotional video for The Ribbon Hero, its upcoming anime film based on Osamu Tezuka‘s classic manga Princess Knight (Ribbon no Kishi). The clip centers on the relationship between the film’s two key characters, Sapphire and Pine.

Story

Netflix describes the film’s premise as follows: Sapphire is the princess of a kingdom that no longer exists. After losing everything in her homeland of Silverland to a catastrophe known as “Nergal,” she wanders in despair until she arrives in Goldland. There, the kindness of the people around her begins to rekindle a flicker of hope — until Nergal strikes again, threatening to reduce this new land to the same ashes as her home.

“I won’t lose anything ever again. And I won’t let anyone else lose anything either.” Brushing away her tears, the girl takes up her sword. This is the story of a lone hero who ties her ribbon and resolves to defy her fate.
