The outdoor cinema event Nakano Chill Night Picnic is set to take place from August 21 to 23, 2026, at Shiki-no-Mori Park in Nakano, Tokyo. The event will use the wall of an office building as a giant screen, projecting anime titles via projection mapping technology across three evenings.
Ten Titles from Five Nakano-Based Studios
All ten anime selected for screening come from five animation studios headquartered in Nakano Ward: Toei Animation, TMS Entertainment, Bushiroad, MAPPA, and Madhouse. The lineup spans classic works and contemporary hits, with two to four titles screened each night.

Character Greetings and Side Events
Beyond the screenings, the event features character meet-and-greet sessions. On August 21, Pero — Toei Animation’s iconic mascot — will appear. On August 22, fans can meet Kitaro, Neko Musume, and Nezumi Otoko from GeGeGe no Kitaro, as well as Bananya from Bananya: At-Home Party.
Additional activities include children’s workshops, a free Bananya-themed fan giveaway, DJ performances, and food trucks operating throughout the event.
